PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's soccer team defeated cross-town rival Brown, 2-1, on Tuesday night (Sept. 22) on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium. Sam Montalto (Stonington, Conn.) and Brian Garrepy (Warwick, R.I.) scored for the Friars, while Vasco Teixeira recorded two assists. Providence improved to 5-3-1 overall on the season.

GAME FLOW & NOTES

The Friars and Bears played to a scoreless draw through the opening 45 minutes.
Providence held a 7-6 advantage in shots during the first half and registered six corner kicks.
Montalto put the Friars on top in the 55th minute, finishing a feed from Teixeira to give Providence a 1-0 lead.
Brown equalized in the 75th minute as Mathias Hille scored off assists from Donovan Mark and Lorenzo Amaral.
Garrepy put the Friars back in front in the 85th minute, scoring his sixth goal of the season off Teixeira's second assist of the night.
Ryan Carney made six saves in net to earn the victory.
The Friars remained unbeaten at home at 4-0-1.
