PC Women Fall At Michigan, 79-66

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Providence College women's basketball team dropped its third straight game on the road Tuesday night as the Friars fell to the University of Michigan, 79-66, at Chrisler Arena.

The loss drops PC to 1-3 on the season while the host Wolverines picked up their fifth straight win of the season to improve to 5-0 on the campaign.

Providence played a strong first half, using an 11-2 run midway through the first half to take a 25-14 lead ten minutes into the game.

Michigan cut into the lead with a late first half run, to narrow the Friars' lead to 35-32 at the half.

The Wolverines took their first lead of the game at 38-37 with 17:53 left on a basket by Stacy Thomas.

After the lead seesawed back-and-forth, Michigan took the lead for keeps at 62-60 with 5:19 left when Thomas drilled her second three-pointer of the game.

The Friars were led by junior Dani Trippany (Massena, N.Y.) who scored 13 points with six rebounds in the game. Sophomore guard Chrissy Vozab added 12 points and senior Meghan Hinds added 11 in the loss. Hinds returned to the lineup after missing the last two games with a broken nose suffered in the opener with George Mason.

Michigan was led by Thomas who scored 17 points with 12 rebounds. Center Allison Miller also had a double-double with 10 points and 11 boards, while Raina Goodlow added 14 points off the bench.

The Friars return to action on Friday, December 3rd when they host intrastate rival Rhode Island (0-2) at Alumni Hall with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m.
