Women's Indoor Track Places 2nd at BU

The Friars scored 46 points and finished second of seven teams at the Boston University Open on December 4. Freshman Roisin McGettingan (Wicklow, Ireland), sophomore Heather Cappello (Lockport, N.Y.) and sophomore Claire Shearman (Portsmouth, N.H.) all earned first place finishes. McGettigan won the 1,000 meters (2:58.18), Cappello captured the mile (5:03.38) and Shearman won the 3,000 (9:54.38). The Friars also got strong performances from junior Joan Bohlke of Old Saybrook, Conn. (second, 500 meters), freshman Emer O'Shea of Limerick, Ireland (second, 1,000 meters), sophomore Kathryn Casserly of Galway, Ireland (second, mile) and junior Francine Darroch of Cambridge, Ontario (second, 3,000 meters). The Friars return to action on January 14 at the New England Challenge at Brown.
