PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Sharon White-McCarty scored 24 points and Ukari Figgs added 20 as No. 2 Purdue routed Providence 96-67 Thursday for a school-record 18th straight win.
Purdue (20-1), capping a four-game road trip, took command of the contest by outscoring Providence 24-13 over the final nine minutes of the first half to take a 53-34 lead into the break. The Boilermakers then outscored Providence 12-1 in the first 3:30 of the second half to build a 30-point lead and coast to victory.
Providence (3-17), which has lost four straight and 10 of its last 11, was led by Meghan Hinds with 17 points and Jen Gombotz with 16. The Friars have played three top-25 teams in their last four games and lost to all of them by 25 points or more.
White-McCarty, averaging 21.2 points per game, scored 14 of her 24 points in the first half as her team shot 18-for-34 (52 percent) from the field.
Figgs scored 12 of her 20 points in the first half, when she was perfect from the floor, making all four of her field-goal attempts, including 3-for-3 from 3-point range. Overall, Purdue was 6-for-9 on 3-pointers in the first half.
Purdue outrebounded Providence 44-26.
