Mathias netted the first goal of the game and the only tally of the first period at the 10:12 mark. The Friars increased their lead to 2-0 when Jess Tabb scored at 3:33 of the second period. However, the Eagles made the game close when Jen Buckley scored the first of her two goals in the game at 11:23 of the second.
PC took control of the contest with three goals in the third period by Corinne Rosen at 1:03, Kerstin Matthews at 10:28 and Mathias at 19:53. Buckley added one goal for the Eagles at 10:16 of the third.
Sara DeCosta made 21 stops in net for the Friars. Christy Nentwig recorded 26 saves in the loss for Boston College.
With the win, Providence raised its record to 19-10-3 overall and 15-7-3 in ECAC play, while Boston College dropped to 8-21-2 overall and 4-19-2 in league play.
Providence College will return to action against Dartmouth on Sunday, March 7 at Hanover, N.H. at 3:00 p.m.
