UMass-Amherst (3-10-2, 3-3-0) - The UMass-Amherst Minuteman travel to Providence College on Friday, December 8 for a 7:00 p.m. faceoff. UMass enters Friday's game with an overall record of 3-10-2 and a 3-3-0 mark in HOCKEY EAST action. Last weekend, the Minuteman were swept by HOCKEY EAST foe Boston University, 5-2 and 4-2. UMass' last win at Schneider Arena was a 3-1 victory on January 8, 2000. Sophomore forward Tim Turner (Saginaw, Mich.) leads the team in scoring with 13 points (eight goals, five assists). Senior Markus Halanen (Vantaa, Finland) and junior Mike Johnson (Excelsior, Minn.) have split time in goal this season for the Minuteman. The pair has posted a 3-10-2 record with a 4.13 goals against average and an .876 save percentage.
PROVIDENCE COLLEGE (8-3-3, 5-2-1) - The Friars enter the weekend ranked ninth in the nation as they host UMass-Amherst on December 8. Friday night's game marks the 26th contest between the Friars and the Minuteman. Last season, the Friars posted a 0-3-0 record versus UMass. The Friars' last win against the Minutemen was a 3-2 victory on February 26, 1999 at Schneider Arena. Last weekend, the Friars posted a 1-1-0 record. On Friday, December 1, Providence lost to Merrimack College, 4-1, at Schneider Arena. The following night, PC defeated the Warriors, 7-3, at the Volpe Complex, in North Andver, Mass. The Friars have been led offensively by sophomore Devin Rask's (Parkside, Saskatchewan) who has registered 18 points (eight goals, 10 assists) in 13 games. Senior netminder Boyd Ballard (Weyburn, Saskatchewan) and sophomore Nolan Schaefer (Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan) have combined to record a 2.25 goals against average and a .931 save percentage.
