Women's Track Places 13th At BIG EAST Championship

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- The Providence College women's track team scored 11 points and finished 13th at the BIG EAST Outdoor Track Championship in Piscataway, N.J. on Sunday, May 7.
The Friars were led by junior Rachel Hixson (Media, Pa.) who placed second in the 5,000 meters in a time of 17:03.81. With her second-place finish, Hixson earned All-BIG EAST accolades and qualified for the ECAC Championship.
Freshman Roisin McGettigan (Wicklow, Ireland) ran strong for PC, finishing eighth (4:34.69) and scoring in the 1,500 meter finals.
Sophomore Heather Cappello (Lockport, N.Y.) also scored for the Friars with her eight-place finish (9:58.44) in the 3,000 meters.
