CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Boston College defeated Providence College, 3-2, in men's BIG EAST soccer action on Wednesday, October 17 in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
The Friars took a 1-0 lead at 21:56 when senior back Kempes Corbally (Dublin, Ireland) scored off a direct kick from 25 yards in front of the net. The Eagles came back to tie the game at 1-1 as sophomore Adam Pfeifer scored at 29:05. The Friars entered halftime with a 2-1 lead after freshman Neville Thompson (Miami, Fla.) one timed a pass by Eagle goalkeeper Joe Roos at 43:14.
Boston College came back in the second half with goals from Guy Melamed at 64:08 and Ramon Smith at 82:47 to earn the win.
Roos made three saves in the win. Friar junior goalkeeper Michael Greulich (Cincinnati, Ohio) recorded six saves for the Friars.
With the victory, Boston College raised its record to 8-3-0 overall and 5-2-0 in BIG EAST action, while Providence fell to 0-9-2 overall and 0-5 in league action.
Providence College returns to action on Saturday, October 20 against Pittsburgh at PC's Glay Field at 2:00 p.m.
