PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College junior forward Jon DiSalvatore (South Windsor, Conn.) was named the HOCKEY EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, November 12 as announced by the league. DiSalvatore earned the honor after leading the Friars' men's hockey team to a 5-3 victory over Northeastern with four goals on five shots on Saturday, November 10 at NU's Matthews Arena.
DiSalvatore scored his four goals in four different ways, scoring a power-play goal in the second period, a short-handed goal to start the third period, a four-on-four even-strength goal and finally an empty-netter with 13 seconds remaining in the contest.
DiSalvatore became the first player in the HOCKEY EAST this season to score four goals and became PC's first player to score four goals in a contest since Dennis Burke scored four goals on December 10, 1994 when he did so against Northeastern as well.
On the season, DiSalvatore is tied for the team lead with eight goals and three assists for 11 points for the Friars, who are 4-5-0 overall and 3-3-0 in HOCKEY EAST play this season.
PC plays at Boston College on Wednesday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m. and PC hosts New Hampshire on Saturday, November 17 at 7:00 p.m. in Providence.
