Women's Basketball Tops Brown, 67-53

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's basketball team defeated Brown University, 67-53, at the Pizzitola Sports Center on Thursday, November 29, in non-conference action.
Sophomore forward/center Jenese Wilcox (Port Chester, N.Y.) led the Friars with a season-high 14 points on six-of-12 shooting from the field, and added seven rebounds. Junior forward Brooke Freeburg (Waterford, Pa.) added 10 points and three rebounds for PC. Sophomore guard Kristin Quinn (Sewell, N.J.) and graduate student Dani Trippany (Massena, N.Y.) scored nine points each, while Trippany pulled down a game-high nine rebounds on the night.
Brown was led by forward Nyema Mitchell and guard Tara Williams. Mitchell led all scorers with 22 points, and recorded a game-high nine rebounds. Williams posted 12 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals for the Bears.
The Friars shot 39.7% (25-63) from the floor, including 46.2% from three point range for the game, and led by as many as 19 points. PC took a, 7-0, lead in the first 4:31 of action and never trailed at any point during the game. Providence (4-2) led, 27-22, at halftime, as Wilcox scored 10 of her 14 points. Mitchell led the Bears at the half with 12 points.
