New England Indoor Championship at Tufts Univ., Medford, Mass. - Feb. 23-24, 2001
MEDFORD, Mass. -- The Providence College women's track team scored 28 points and finished 11th of 31 teams at the New England Indoor Track Championship at Tufts University in Medford, Mass. on Saturday, February 24.
The Friars were led by sophomore Emer O'Shea (Limerick, Ireland) who placed second in the 1,000 meters in a time of 2:53.61. With her time of 2:53.61, O'Shea qualified for the ECAC Indoor Championship.
Senior Francine Darroch (Cambridge, Ontario) also qualified for the ECAC Championship by finishing fourth in the mile in a time of 4:59.91.
The Friars 4 x 800 meter relay squad of junior Kate Gall (Cumberland, Md.), junior Carolyn Turco (Danvers, Mass.), senior Kathy Sutkowski (Edison, N.J.) and sophomore Roisin McGettigan (Wicklow, Ireland) finished fourth in a time of 9:26.17.
