WOMEN'S TRACK at University of Connecticut, Storrs, Conn.. - April 6, 2001
STORRS, Conn. -- The Providence College women's track team scored 54 points and finished sixth of eight teams at the University of Connecticut at Storrs, Conn., on Friday, April 6.
The Friars were led by sophomore Emer O'Shea (Limerick, Ireland) and junior Claire Shearman (Portsmouth, N.H.) who each earned a first-place finish.
Shearman won the 3,000 in a time of 9:51.91 and O'Shea captured the 1,500 in a time of 4:34.86.
Junior Kathryn Casserly (Galway, Ireland) also ran a strong race, placing second in the 5,000 meters in a time of 17:04.16.
Sophomore Brooke Freeburg (Waterford, Pa.) placed second in the javelin with a throw of 40.10 meters.
