ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. -- St. Bonaventure University defeated Providence College, 4-0, in men's soccer action on Sunday, September 2 at the St. Bonaventure/addidas Soccer Classic in St. Bonaventure, N.Y. Sophomore Said Ali (Hamilton, Ontario) recorded two goals and two assists to lead the Bonnies.
Ali gave the Bonnies a 1-0 lead when he took a long pass and beat PC senior goalkeeper Danny Glynn (Manchester, England) at 35:04. Ali scored his second goal at 48:50 with a blast from the right side. Junior John Phoumanny (Elmira, N.Y.) and freshman Brian Donovan (Erie, Pa.) each scored for St. Bonaventure to seal the win.
St. Bonaventure sophomore goalkeeper Tim Landry (Rochester, N.Y.) registered three saves in the win. Glynn recorded four stops for the Friars.
Friar defenders senior Kempes Corbally (Dublin, Ireland) and sophomore Jeff Sawyer (Chicopee, Mass.) were named to the All-Tournament Team.
With the victory, St. Bonaventure raised its record to 1-1 overall, while Providence fell to 0-2.
Providence College returns to action on Saturday, September 8 against St.John's at PC's Glay Field at 1:00 p.m.
