Women's Indoor Track Competes At Yale Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Providence College women's indoor track team competed at the Yale Invitational on Saturday, January 11 in New Haven Conn. The Friars' distance medley relay team of graduate student Heather Cappello (Lockport, N.Y.) and sophomores Roisin Quinn (Waterford, Ireland), Deirdre Byrne (Avoca, Ireland) and All-American Mary Cullen (Sligo, Ireland) finished the relay in a time of 11:46.14, which was 14 seconds ahead of their closest competitors.
In the 800-meter run the Friars were led by freshman Katie Boyle (Providence, R.I.) who finished seventh in a time of 2:31.21 and sophomore Katie Twarog (Albany, N.Y.) who placed 13th in a time of 2:34.99.
Junior Carol Geddes (Seekonk, Mass.) recorded the top finish for the Friars in the mile-run as she crossed the finish line in fifth-place (5:34.01), while freshman Ashley Jensen (Lincoln, R.I.) finished in 12th-place (5:46.07).
The Friars return to action on January 24-25 when they compete at the Boston University Invitational.
