NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- The Central Connecticut defeated the Providence College men's soccer team, 1-0, on Sunday, August 31 at the Central Connecticut State Soccer Cup in New Britain, Conn.
Central Connecticut's Gareth Wilkinson scored the only goal of the game just 2:24 into the second half to give the Blue Devils what would prove to be the game-winning goal.
Friar junior goalkeeper Jeff Newman (Northboro, Mass.) made two saves in the loss.
With the win, Central Connecticut improved to 2-0 overall, while Providence fell to 1-1 overall.
Providence College returns to action on Saturday, September 6 at Rutgers at 7:00 p.m.
