TAMPA, Fla. -- On the final day of the of the University of South Florida AmeriSuites Tournament, the host school, the South Florida Bulls, defeated the Providence College men's soccer team, 1-0, in overtime on Sunday, September 14 in Tampa, Fla.
In an evenly played game, the score was tied at 0-0 after 90 minutes of action. However, South Florida broke the tie just 6:45 into overtime to earn the win. Kareem Smith kicked a shot past Friar goalkeeper Jeff Newman (Northboro, Mass.) to give South Florida the victory.
With the win, South Florida improved to 3-2-1 overall, while Providence fell to 2-4 overall.
Providence College returns to action on Friday, September 19 at West Virginia at 4:00 p.m.
