MONTCLAIR, N.J. - The Providence College women's swimming and diving team (2-2) defeated Montclair State (0-2) by the score of 142-88 at Panzer Pool Saturday afternoon. The PC men's team (1-4) lost to the Red Hawks, 142-94.
On the women's side freshman Blair Flynn (Middletown, R.I.) and junior Katelyn Flynn (Sinking Spring, Pa.) each won three events to lead the Friars.
Blair Flynn won both the 50 and 100-yard freestyles with times of 25.99 and 55.94, respectively. Katelyn Flynn added wins in the 200 breaststroke (2:32.79) and 200-yard individual medley (2:15.79). The duo then joined Meghan Glynn (Northeastern, Mass.) and Annie Nemeth (Pittsburgh, Pa.) to set a Panzer Pool record in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:13.65. Kellie Ryan (Dracut, Mass.) won both sections of the diving portion with scores of 130.75 and 140.45.
Nemeth would add a win in the 200-yard freestyle (2:02.77) and Christine Bonagura (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) took first in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:22.98). Sophomore Danielle Matook (Seekonk, Mass.) was the other winner for the Friars in the 200-yard backstroke (2:20.56).
Senior Seth Brockman (Kenner, La.) won the 100-yard freestyle for PC men with a time of 50.21, while senior Frank LaMonaca (Cheshire, Conn.) added a win in the 200-yard freestyle (1:49.99). The duo then led the Friars' 400-yard freestyle relay team to victory with a time of 3:23.24. Tom McLoughlin (Middletown, N.J.) and Justin Rich (Branford, Conn.) were the other members of that winning relay quartet.
Providence returns to action on Wednesday, November 16 as it travels to Holy Cross for a 5:30 p.m. meet with the Crusaders.
