Wow, time flies. I am now a senior and this season will be underway before we know it. The transition from high school was not challenging for me because I had attended a prep school. I lived on campus and already had to deal with the trials and tribulations of being away from home and on my own. However, I did miss my mom and my atmosphere was extremely different.
So heading into college, the transition was fairly easy, but basketball was more intense than I had ever imagined. I was attending a school affiliated with the BIG EAST Conference. I was nervous and anxious for the opportunity. I remember when it first hit me that I was in the "BIG EAST." It was my first game in league action, and we were playing Virginia Tech (who was a member at the time); I was starting because our junior point guard at the time was injured. Just the intensity of it all was enough to make it an experience I will never forget.
Now on to this year! First pre-season, then practices came quick, and we've already had two scrimmages. This week games start and I'm realizing how quickly the time is passing. We've been working hard as a group and with some tweaking and cleaning up we'll be ready for opening night. My teammates and I are looking forward to starting the game schedule and excelling to our full potential through determination, dedication, and discipline. With a lot of younger players our veterans, including myself, must set the tone for what is expected of us.
Friday night the lights go on, fans will come out to watch the Friars play, and its game time. We're going to leave it all out on the floor. My teammates and I are prideful and grateful to have "Providence" written across our jerseys. This program is headed for greatness, and this year is just another step toward an exciting future. For me, this is it - the last season of my collegiate career. Looking back, I'm so appreciative of the opportunity to be here at Providence. I have great anticipation for the season ahead and getting into BIG EAST play. I thank God daily that I am a Friar. With our outstanding coaching staff, teammates, and myself the BIG EAST should watch out! Let's get IT...
