I am sitting here about to start my senior year at Providence college wondering where the past three years have gone. I came in as a freshman from Albuquerque, New Mexico, which is 2,500 miles away from Providence, Rhode Island. I did not know what to expect, and I was scared (not going to lie). Freshman year was tough for me. I was home sick and trying to deal with the transition from high school to college basketball. But I continued to persevere everyday and eventually each year things got easier and better for me. Making the decision to come to a college a long way from home was hard for me because I am very close with my family, but I would not trade this opportunity for anything. I am blessed to be able to say that I play in the BIG EAST Conference, which is one of the top conferences in the nation, and to be able to compete with some of the top players in the nation.
October 13, 2006 was the day we held "Late Night Madness" to celebrate the beginning of the season. I was standing in a gym full of friar fanatics waiting for my name to be called for the last time in my collegiate career as a Providence Friar. I have such a great time with my teammates, they are a fun group to be around and I love them all. That night we looked like a team and came together as a team, and if we stick together we can do great things. After all the fun that I had during Late Night Madness, I realized that from this point on everything is going to go by in a blink of an eye. I made it through my last pre season, and it went by surprisingly fast (thank God), and now it is time to step it up to another level this season.

I expect great things this year from the team. We have a good amount of players returning who were able to get some great experience last year, and are going to contribute this year as well. We also have seven new players this season and three of them are taller then 6'5''. I am very excited for this season with my teammates and coaching staff and can't wait for the games to start! If we stick together and help the newcomers, I truly feel that we can make some noise in the BIG EAST this season. I think now that I am a senior, it makes me appreciate everything more and more every day. This experience of becoming a Providence Friar has made me grow so much as a player and a person, I have come a long way from the time I left Albuquerque my freshman year. I thank God that I have made it this far, and now I am ready for my senior year, and plan to go out with a bang!
