Women's Track Competes At Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Providence College men's and women's track teams each competed at the prestigious Penn Relays on April 27-28.
On the men's side, senior Joe Dionne (Oshawa, Ontario) placed 14th (14:49.64) in the college men's 5,000 meters. Dionne qualified for the BIG EAST Championship with his time of 14:49.64. Also on the men's side, the Friars' distance medley relay team of Max Smith (Dunedin, New Zealand), freshman Charlie Dewey (Worcester, Mass.), senior Richard Jones (Wellington, New Zealand) and senior Martin Fagan (Mullingar, Ireland) placed fourth in a time of in a time of 9:36.56 in the championship of America division.
The women's team was led by freshman Katie DiCamillo (Garden City, N.Y.) who finished ninth (9:55.44) in the college women's 3,000 meters. PC's 4 x 1,500 meter relay team of sophomore Nelle Trefz (Iowa City, Iowa), senior Mary Cullen (Sligo, Ireland), graduate student Aine Hoban (Wakefield, England) and junior Meghan Owen (Danielson, Conn.) placed fifth in a time of 18:04.65 in the championship of America division.
The men's team will run its final race at the Penn Relays on April 29 when the 4 x mile team competes in the championship of America division.
