PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's soccer team will face off against Northeastern University on Friday, September 7 at 3:00 p.m. and No. 19 Harvard University on Sunday, September 9 at 1:00 p.m.

The Friars are looking to rebound after a 2-0 road loss at the hands of 22nd ranked Rhode Island this past Monday. Providence held an 18-14 shot advantage, including a 9-3 edge in shots on goal, but was unable to convert. Sophomore Jonathan Medcalf (Tulsa, Okla.) leads the team in scoring with two goals, while senior All-American Ryan Maduro (Bristol, R.I.) has one assist. Providence, which defeated Northeastern 1-0 last season, leads the all-time series 10-1-0.

The Huskies (0-2) have been struggling to find the back of the net this season, having been shut out in both contests. They are led by senior forward Greg Kilkenny (Bray Wilkow, Ireland) and sophomore forward Alexander Volk (Nordrach, Germany) who finished the 2006 season tied for the team-high in both goals (6) and points (17). In their last contest, Northeastern lost, 3-0, to Boston University.

Harvard (1-0) is currently ranked No. 19 by Soccer America and No. 21 in the Adidas/NSCAA Coaches Poll. The Crimson is coming off an impressive 3-2 home victory over No. 22 Rhode Island on Saturday, September 1 and will play Maine on Friday, September 7. The Crimson will look towards sophomore forward Andre Akpan (Grand Prairie, Texas) who set a Harvard freshman scoring record with 32 points on 10 goals and 12 assists last season. For his efforts, he was named the National Rookie of the Year. Akpan was part of last season's team that led the nation in goals scored.

In their last meeting, the Friars fell 3-0 to Harvard on October 24, 2004.

Following the pair of weekend matches, the Friars will have a week off before returning to action on Saturday, September 15, when they host Holy Cross in a 2:00 p.m. contest at Glay Field.
