The Providence College swimming & diving teams hosted the Drexel University Dragons on Friday, January 23 in Providence, R.I. The Dragons outswam the Friars, defeating the women, 136-95, and the men, 152-85. Despite the loss, sophomore Courtney Larcom (Morristown, N.J.) and junior Tim Reilly (Floral Park, N.Y.) each set the school record in the 1500-meter freestyle event. Larcom finished in a time of 18:10.97 and Reilly swam to a 17:43.20 finish.
Sophomore Alexis Fatigati (New Milford, N.J.) also saw success on the day, earning two individual first-place finishes. Fatigati took first in the 200-meter (2:12.86) and 400-meter (4:42.17) freestyle events. Junior Carrie Lamb (New Paltz, N.Y.) also swam to a first-place finish in the 100-meter freestyle in a time of 1:01.97.
On the men's side, junior Mathew Card took the 200-meter freestyle in a time of 2:00.91. Freshman John Evans (Chester, Va.) also earned an individual win on the day, capturing first in the 200-meter individual medley in a time of 2:19.77.
The Friars continue the weekend with a meet against Villanova on Saturday, January 24. Providence will host the Wildcats at 11:00 a.m. in the Taylor Natatorium in Providence, R.I.
