NCAA Championship Update: Doetzel Places Fifth In 5,000 meters

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Senior Danette Doetzel (Macklin, Sask.) placed fifth in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA Championship at Texas A&M University on March 13, 2009. Doetzel concluded her stellar season with a strong effort running 16:00.45.

The race was won by Texas Tech's Sally Kipyego in a winning time of 15:51.14. This race marks the end of Senior Doetzel's indoor track season. Doetzel will prepare for the outdoor track season, where she will compete in the 10,000 meters. Doetzel placed second in the 10,000 meters at the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Track Championships and will hope to improve upon that placing and claim an NCAA individual title.
