STORRS, Conn. - The Providence women's track team continued the outdoor season on Saturday, April 4 at the Uconn Invitational. The team had three runners qualify for the BIG EAST Championships to be held at Villanova University on May 1-3, 2009.
Emma Perron (West Hartford, Conn.) led the Friars in the 5,000 meters, winning the event in a time of 17:33.17. Perron's time qualified her for the BIG EAST Championship. Junior Krystal Douglas (Harpswell, Maine) won the 1,500 meters in a time of 4:41.76. The Friars had two BIG EAST qualifiers in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, Freshmen Hannah Davidson (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) placed first (10:43.14) and Sara Graney (Palisades, N.Y.) placed second (11:20.63).
Sophomore Julie Wolf (Worcester, Mass.) placed sixth in the 400 meters in a time of 1:01.24. Seniors Katie Elliot (Penfield, N.Y.) finished fourth (2:16.37) and Katherine Schock (Norwood, Mass.) placed fifth (2:17.71) in the 800 meters.
The women compete next at the Quinipiac Invitational at Yale University on Wednesday, April 8, 2009.
