SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Providence College women's basketball team defeated Seton Hall, 58-55, in BIG EAST Conference action on Sunday, February 6 in South Orange, N.J. Sophomore Symone Roberts (New Britain, Conn.) scored 12 of her game-high 14 points in the second half to fuel the win. Senior Mi-Khida Hankins (Baltimore, Md.) added 13 points and eight rebounds for PC.

Seton Hall tied the game, 55-55, with 36 seconds remaining on the clock. The Friars managed to hit 3-of-4 free throws to seal the win down the stretch. The Pirates rimmed out a three-pointer from the left side of the floor as time expired.

The Friars held a 17-16 lead at halftime, as both teams struggled offensively. Providence shot 33.3-percent from the field on 8-24 shooting, while the Pirates hit just 19.4-percent of their shots (6-31). The largest lead for either team in the half was three points (8-5), by the Friars with 13:03 on the clock.

Jasmine Crew netted 14 points to lead Seton Hall, while Kandice Green added 12 points and eight rebounds.

The game was tied 13 times and the lead changed a total of 18 times. After a sluggish start for both teams in the opening 20 minutes, Providence outscored Seton Hall 41-39 in the second half. The Friars shot 60-percent (15-25) and the Pirates hit 51.7-percent in the second stanza (15-29).

The Friars return to action on Wednesday, February 9 against Villanova. The game will be played at Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium in Providence, R.I. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
