PRINCETON, N.J. - With much of their number preparing for next weekend's NCAA East Regionals, three members of the Providence College women's track and field team took part in the ECAC Championships, hosted by Princeton University.
Junior Sam Roecker (Charlton, N.Y.) led the PC contingent in the 5000-meters, finishing ninth in a 28-runner field. Her time of 16:44.36 was less than .58 off of her personal best at the distance (16:43.78) and was her fastest clocking of the campaign.
Roecker was trailed by sophomore teammate Grace Thek (Melbourne, Australia), who crossed in 16:59.76, and senior Friar Mary Kate Champagne (Plattsburg, N.Y.), who clocked in at 17:15.71.
Both the Providence men's and women's teams will now travel to Jacksonville, Florida for the first round of the national championships, the East Regionals. Competition begins on May 24 and extends to May 26th.
