Colgate (2-3-0) scored first in the contest, at 10:22 in the first period while on the power play. Megan Sullivan notched the goal with the assists going to Shelby Perry and Nicole Gass. Providence countered at 17:53 with a short-handed goal by Thunstrom to tie the game, 1-1. Thunstrom picked off a pass from Colgate, to skate away for the breakaway goal.
After a scoreless second, the Raiders netted the game-winning goal in the third period (6:14) when Annika Zalewski scored in front of the net. Breanne Wilson-Bennett and Miriam Drubel registered the assist.
Junior Sarah Bryant (Bethlehem, Pa.) got the start in the net for the Friars, making 18 saves in the game. Ashlynne Rando made 15 stops for Colgate.
Overall, the Raiders held a 20-16 shot advantage in the game.
The Friars next return home to Schneider Arena to host Yale on Friday, Oct. 24. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m.
