Men's Hockey Starts #Beards4Brownie Fundraiser

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -
The Providence College men's hockey team will be supporting fellow Friar Drew Brown this November with a #Beards4Brownie initiative.
Stemming from the popular "No Shave November" efforts going on around the country, the Friars will grow beards this month to help raise funds for Brown and his family as he battles Ewing's sarcoma.
Fans can participate by growing their own #Beards4Brownie, voting for the best beard on the team and by donating to the fundraising effort. Pictures of the team's progress will be updated on Thursdays throughout the month, while three finalists will be announced during the Army game (Nov. 25). Then on Saturday, Nov. 29, the winner will be selected and announced during Providence's game versus Boston College.
Fans can cast votes for the best beards on the team by using the hashtag #Beards4Brownie with the additional hashtag of a player's last name (example: #Acciari) on both Instagram and Twitter. The first round of pictures will be posted on Thursday night (Nov. 13) on both the @Friarshockey (Twitter) and FRIARSHOCKEY (Instagram) accounts.
Led by junior forwards Brooks Behling (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Trevor Mingoia (Fairport, N.Y.), the Friars will also be selling #Beards4Brownie bracelets around campus.

A native of Grass Lake, Mich., Brown has been home and receiving treatment for the rare form of bone cancer.
