WAKEFIELD, Mass. - After recording his first career shutout in a 1-0 win over New Hampshire (Nov. 22), sophomore goalie Nick Ellis (Millerville, Md.) was named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week (Nov. 24).
Ellis' first career shutout helped the Friars improve to 5-5-1 (4-3-0 HEA) on the season. The netminder recorded a total of 29 saves, including 11 each in the first and third period, while playing all 60:00 minutes for the Friars.
For the season, Ellis has compiled a 1.50 goals-against average and a .949 save percentage in 80:00 minutes of action.
The Friars play host to Army tomorrow (Nov. 25) at 7:00 p.m. It will mark the Black Knights' first trip to Schneider Arena since a 6-2 Providence win on Feb. 12, 1999.
