Providence's Nagel And Collins Named Second-Team All-American

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the Division I student-athletes who earned USTFCCCA All-America honors for the 2014 outdoor track and field season on June 16.

Two Friars received Second-Team All-America honors. Senior Laura Nagel (Napier, New Zealand) and sophomore Sarah Mary Collins (Basel, Switzerland) earned the honor for their performances at the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore. on June 14. In the 5,000 meter event, Nagel finished 11th in a time of 16:09.98, while Collins finished 16th in 16:25.97.

First-Team All-America honors were awarded to those athletes that finished in the top eight in their event while Second-Team All-America honors were awarded to those who finished between ninth and 16th. The remaining finishers received Honorable Mention.
