Men's Soccer To Host Marquette

The Providence College men's soccer team will host BIG EAST opponent Marquette at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium on Oct. 26 at 7:00 p.m. The game will serve as the team's senior night and honor four graduating seniors. The game will be streamed on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) via Fox Sports Go.

Scouting the Golden Eagles
The Golden Eagles open the BIG EAST match with a 4-5-4 overall record and 1-3-2 BIG EAST mark after defeating Xavier on Oct. 22, 4-1. Luka Prpa was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week after scoring two goals in the win over Xavier.

Prpa also leads the team in points with 22 on eight goals and six assists. Connor Alba is second among his teammates in points with 10 on four goals and two assists.

Luis Barraza leads the Golden Eagles in goal, posting 887:08 minutes in net. Over 10 games, Barraza has made 47 saves for a 1.52 goals against average and .758 save percentage.

Scouting the Friars
The Friars host Marquette with a 9-5 overall record and 4-2 BIG EAST mark. The Friars have won five consecutive games, the longest run of the season. Providence defeated DePaul on Oct. 22, 2-1 with goals from Liam Wilson (Sussex, England) and Julian Gressel (Neustadt an der Aisch). Gressel also added an assist in the match.

Providence is led by Gressel, with 22 points from nine goals and four assists. Six Friars have scored in the 2016 season and four of the team's goal scorers are freshman: Danny Griffin (Wethersfield, Conn.), Barden Kline (Lancaster, Pa.), Alex DaCosta (Bristol, R.I.) and Wilson.

Colin Miller (Bel Air, Md.) has registered 731:01 minutes in goal for the Friars, allowing only three goals and posting a .903 save percentage. The red-shirt sophomore has registered five shutouts and an 8-0-0 record.

The match against Marquette will also honor the team's four graduating seniors: team manager Hannah Poirier, Jake Drew (Westwood, Mass.), Nick Sailor (Bloomfield, Conn.), and Gressel. The ceremony will begin at 6:45 and conclude prior to the start of the game.
