Colin Miller Named BIG EAST Goalkeeper Of The Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - In an announcement made by the league on Nov. 7, Colin Miller (Bel Air, Md.) was named Goalkeeper of the Week for the first time in the 2016 season. Julian Gressel (Neustadt an der Aisch, Germany) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the third time in 2016.

Miller posted his seventh shutout of the season and improved his record to 11-0-0. The sophomore goalkeeper made five saves at St. John's to help the Friars to a 1-0 win on Nov. 3. Miller's efforts led the Friars to their first BIG EAST regular season title.

Gressel scored the Friars' lone goal in the 80th minute to push the Friars past the Red Storm on Nov. 3. With the goal, the senior captain leads the BIG EAST with five game-winning tallies.

The Friars are back in action in the BIG EAST Semifinals. The No. 25 Friars will take on the No. 24 Creighton Bluejays on Nov. 10 at 7:00 p.m. at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium. Providence is the No. 1 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament and Creighton holds the No. 4 spot.
