TALKING POINTS
- Providence scored two road wins in its last series at RIT on Dec. 9-10, defeating the Tigers by scores of 5-1 and 3-1.
- Sophomore Ryan Tait tallied his first two goals of the season and added an assist, while Brian Pinho also registered three points on a goal and two assists on Dec. 9.
- Anthony Florentino (0.86), Josh Monk & Jake Walman (0.75) rank third and sixth respectively among Hockey East defensemen in points per game.
- Jacob Bryson leads all Hockey East rookie defensemen in scoring with three goals and eight assists, including the game-winning goal at RIT on Dec. 9.
- Senior Conor MacPhee scored his first goal since his freshman season on Dec. 9 at RIT. MacPhee's followed up with an empty net goal the following night.
- Hayden Hawkey has been strong for the Friars in goal over the past five games, posting a 1.58 GAA and .944 save percentage over that span. Hawkey earned Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week honors on Dec. 12 after stopping 65-of-67 shots against RIT.

SERIES HISTORY - DENVER (8-6-1, .531)
- The Friars and Pioneers will meet for the first time since the 2015 NCAA Northeast Regional.
- Providence defeated the Pioneers, 4-1, to advance to their first Frozen Four since 1985.
- Prior to that meeting, the Friars and Pioneers last met in 2000.
- Denver's last visit to Schneider Arena came on Nov. 27, 1999, a 7-3 Providence win.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
- The Pioneers saw their 15-game unbeaten streak snapped in their last outing with a 3-1 setback to No. 1 Minnesota Duluth.
- Denver sits second in the NCHC standings behind Minnesota Duluth with a 6-1-3 record.
- The Pioneers will be without top players on Friday: Troy Terry (World Juniors), Henrik Borgström (World Juniors), and Dylan Gambrell (suspension). Gambrell will be eligible to return for Saturday night's games.
- Denver will look to fill the void with Will Butcher (3-14-17) and Jarid Lukosevicius (6-3-9).
- In goal, junior Tanner Jaillet boasts a 1.99 GAA and .922 save percentage in 16 games this season. Jaillet suffered the loss in the 2015 NCAA Northeast Regional against the Friars, making 20 saves.
