PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Hockey East Association announced on Tuesday (Dec. 5) that Providence College's Erik Foley (Mansfield, Mass.) was named Hockey East Player of the Month. Foley is the first Friar to earn Hockey East Player of the Month recognition since Trevor Mingoia in January of 2016.
In seven games played, Foley led all Hockey East players in points (11), assists (7), points per game (1.57), and power play points (6). He also added four goals and closed out the month with a six-game point streak, eventually extending it a career-long seven-game streak on Dec. 1 against New Hampshire. Foley boasted three multi-point outings during November, including a career-high four points at Merrimack on Nov. 18.
Overall in 2017-18, Foley ranks third in the Hockey East in scoring with 18 points and tops the league in scoring in conference games with seven goals and seven assists in 10 games played. He is one of five players to average a point per game or higher in Hockey East games this season.
Foley and the Friars conclude their first half schedule this weekend with a pair of non-conference games against RIT beginning Friday night at Schneider Arena.
