The sophomore forward notched a career-high six points on three goals and three assists against Brown (Nov. 30).
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sara Hjalmarsson (Bankeryd, Sweden) of the Providence College women's hockey team was named Hockey East Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Dec. 2. It marks the sophomore's first-career Player of the Week honor.
Hjalmarsson tallied three goals and three assists to help the Friars to a 10-0 victory over Brown in the Mayor's Cup. Her six points are the most by any female NCAA player in a single game this season and also set a new record in the Mayor's Cup.
Hjalmarsson leads the Friars with 15 points through 16 games this season. She's scored a team-leading eight goals and ranks second on the team in assists, with seven.
The Friars wrap up the first semester of play with a home-and-home series against UConn. Providence hosts the Huskies on Thursday, Dec. 5 (6:00 p.m.) and travels to Storrs on Friday, Dec. 6 (6:00 p.m.).
