PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Mireille Kingsley (Sudbury, Ontario) of the Providence College women's hockey team was named Hockey East Goaltender of the Week on Monday, Nov. 25.
In the weekend series against No. 7 Boston College, Kingsley had back-to-back 40-plus save performances. On Friday, Kingsley recorded a career-high 42 saves in net, making multiple game-saving stops down the stretch to help the Friars to a 2-1 victory. In addition to earning a career-high in saves, the game also served as Kingsley's first start against both a Hockey East and nationally ranked opponent. In the second game of the series, Kingsley recorded 40 saves for the Friars. In total, the netminder recorded 82 saves for a .965 save percentage on the weekend.
The award serves as Kingsley's first Hockey East recognition.
Next weekend the Friars will hit the road for Hockey East matchups against UConn and Maine. Providence will play the Huskies in Storrs, Conn. on Friday, Nov. 19 at 6:00 p.m. before playing the Black Bears in Orono, Me. on Sunday, Nov. 21 at 2:00 p.m.
