Last Time Out...
- Providence improved to 10-2 all-time in season-openers under Nate Leaman after a 6-1 victory on opening night against Sacred Heart.
- Twelve players recorded a point, including six different goal scorers. Chase Yoder led the way for the Friars with a career-high three assists, while Riley Duran (1-1-2), Patrick Moynihan (1-1-2) and Connor Kelley (0-2-2) posted multi-point efforts.
- Freshman Philip Svedeback got the start in between the pipes for the Friars, stopping 15 of 16 shots he faced for his first-career NCAA victory.
- The Friars limited the Pioneers to just seven shots on goal in the final 40 minutes, including two shots in the third period.
- After Sacred Heart tied the game up at 12:15 of the second, the Friars found their momentum as they struck for four goals in a span of 4:09 to close the second period out with a 5-1 lead. Goals from Moynihan, Duran, Bennett Schimek and Jamie Engelbert  highlighted the four-goal outburst.
- Nick Poisson wrapped up the scoring for the Friars at 1:42 of the third period, beating goaltender Luke Lush who came in relief of starter Justin Robbins.

The Friars boasted 18 past, present and future players that appeared in NHL Development Camps back in July. Senior Patrick Moynihan is ranked third among all active NCAA players with 19 career power-play goals.
 
Crozier and Ford Named Captains
The Friars anointed seniors Max Crozier and Parker Ford as the team's co-captains for the 2022-23 season. Both players were alternate captains last season.
 
Crozier Among Returning Defensive Leaders
Max Crozier returns for year four as 10th among active NCAA defenseman in goals with 14 and is tied for fourth overall with eight career power-play goals.
 
Scoring Returns
The Friars rank fifth among NCAA schools with 86 goals returning from last season.
 
Young Bucks
Providence ices the sixth youngest roster in the NCAA with an average age of 21.1 years and has a combined 16 first and second year players out of a 29-player roster.
 
In The Show
Eight former Friars appeared on NHL opening night rosters: Noel Acciari (STL), Jacob Bryson (BUF), Vincent Desharnais (EDM), Brandon Duhaime (MIN), Kevin Rooney (CGY), Brandon Tanev (SEA), Tyce Thompson (NJ) and Jake Walman (DET).
 
Friars at the 2022 World Junior Championships
In addition to Nate Leaman and Theresa Feaster being a part of the U.S. National Junior team staff,  junior Brett Berard and sophomore Riley Duran each participated in the tournament for the U.S. Freshman Jaroslav Chmelar appeared in three games for Team Czechia.

The Friars are 193-20-20 all-time under Nate Leaman when scoring three or more goals in a game.

Series History vs. Clarkson (PC trails 18-36-2, .339)
The Friars and Golden Knights meet on Thursday for the first time in nearly three years and it will mark Clarkson's first visit to Schneider Arena since a 3-3 tie on Oct. 21, 2016. Providence has won two straight in the series - a 4-2 win in Potsdam in October 2019 and a 1-0 at the NCAA Regional in March of 2018. Prior to that, Clarkson held a six-game unbeaten streak in the matchup.
 
Scouting the Golden Knights...
Clarkson began the season with two home defeats - dropping a 4-3 overtime decision to New Hampshire and a 3-2 setback to Merrimack last weekend. The Golden Knights are led by reigning ECAC Defenseman of the Week Noah Beck, who leads the team in scoring through two games with two goals and two assists. Alex Campbell and Ayrton Martino round out the top-three in scoring with two points each through two games. In goal, Ethan Haider has surrendered seven goals on 70 shots in the first two games, good for a 3.43 GAA and .900 save percentage.
 
Series History vs. Northeastern (PC leads 90-58-2, .339)
The Friars and Huskies renew their rivalry with a single game at Matthews Arena on Saturday night. Northeastern swept the season series last season, outscoring the Friars by a 6-1 margin over two games back in December. The Friars are 2-3-1 in the last six trips to Matthews Arena.
 
Scouting the Huskies...
Northeastern has opened the 2022-23 season at 3-0 after a 3-2 OT win over Long Island and a two-game Hockey East sweep over Vermont. Aidan McDonough leads the way with three goals and two assists over three games, while Gunnarwolfe Fontaine (1-3-4), Cam Lund (1-2-3) and Jack Williams (1-2-3) have also been a big factor offensively. In goal, the returning Mike Richter Award winner Devon Levi has posted a 1.33 GAA and .945 save percentage over three games, stopping 69-of-73 shots he's faced.
