BOSTON, Mass. — The Providence College men's and women's indoor track teams competed at the UMass Flagship Invitational at The Track at New Balance on Sunday, Jan. 12 in Boston, Mass. Senior
Kimberley May (Auckland, New Zealand) led the Friar women's team as she won the women's mile in a time of 4:28.33, which is the fastest collegiate time run this season. The Friar men's team was led senior
Brett Lehman (Lower Gwynedd, Pa) who captured the 400 meters in a school record time of 48.41. The Friar men also got a first-place finishes from sophomore
Will Johnston (Auckland, New Zealand) as he captured the 1,000 meters in a time of 2:25.44 and senior
Michael Morgan (Sligo, Ireland) won the mile in a time of 4:05.04.
In addition to May winning the women's mile, graduate student
Alex Millard (Kent, England) placed second (4:35.52) in the mile and freshman
Emily Bush (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) finished third (4:49.25).
Sophomore
Kiera Hall (Christchurch, New Zealand) placed third in the 800 meters (2:15.33).
Freshman
Chloe Higgins (Morristown, N.J.) was second in the 400 in a time of 57.03.
On the men's side, graduate student
Josh Lewin (West Chester, Pa.) earned a second-place finish in the 800 meters in a time of 1:52.84. The Friars also got a second-place finish from graduate student
Liam Back (New Plymouth, England) as he ran the mile in 4:06.33.
Other Friar men who had strong performances were freshman
Cormac Dixon (Dublin, Ireland), freshman Tom Breen (Providence, R.I.) and graduate student Patrick Thygesen (Brisbane, Australia). Dixon was third in the 1,000 meters in a time of 2:27.38. Breen placed fourth in the in 500 (1:04.90) and Thygesen was fourth in the mile (4:06.72).
In the high jump, sophomore Jon Mignaca (Seekonk, Mass.) earned a second-place finish with his top jump of 2.00 meters.
The Friars return to action on Saturday, Jan. 20 at the University of Rhode Island Invitational.
