North Andover, Mass.– The Providence College women's hockey team fell to Merrimack, 4-2, on Friday, Feb. 21, at Lawler Rink in North Andover, Mass. With the loss, the Friars dropped to 19-11-2 overall and 15-9-2 in Hockey East play. The Warriors improved to 8-21-4 and 5-17-4 in conference action.
Hannah Johnson (Readfield, Maine) and
Audrey Knapp (Stevens Point, Wis.) each recorded a multi-point game.

Hannah Johnson (Readfield, Maine) put the Friars on the board at the 15:23 mark of the first period, deflecting the puck out of the air.
Lily Martinson (Allen, Texas) and
Audrey Knapp (Stevens Point, Wis.) picked up the assists.
-The goal marked Johnson's 10th of the season, making her the fourth Friar to reach double digits in goals. Martinson's assist was her 10th of the season, making her the seventh Friar to record double-digit assists.
-Providence was awarded a five-on-three power play at 17:38 of the second period.
Brooke Becker (Orchard Park, N.Y.) scored on a slap shot, with assists from Johnson and Knapp. The power-play goal was Becker's third of the season.
-Knapp's second assist marked a career high in assists for the sophomore. Johnson and Knapp each recorded their second point of the night on the goal, increasing their multi-point game totals to eight and nine, respectively.
-The Friars killed two penalties in the second period.
-The Warriors cut the deficit in half just 1:10 into the third period when Tara Blackburn scored, assisted by Abby Poitras and Chloe Goofers.
-Merrimack tied the game 1:20 later on a broken play, with Rachel Bjorgan scoring unassisted.
-Bjorgan netted her second goal of the game on a power play, assisted by Solveig Gisler and Poitras, giving the Warriors their first lead (3-2).
-Payten Evans extended Merrimack's lead to 4-2 with 2:56 remaining in regulation, scoring on a slap shot from the blue line following a Bjorgan faceoff win.
-Goaltender
Hope Walinski (Lincoln, R.I.) recorded 20 saves.
-With the loss and Boston College's regulation win, Providence secured the No. 4 seed in the Hockey East Tournament and will face Northeastern in the quarterfinals.
