NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Chase Yoder and Tomas Machu scored while Zachary Borgiel stopped 12 shots against his former team as the No. 7/7 Providence College men's hockey team earned a weekend sweep over Merrimack with a 2-1 win at Lawler Arena on Saturday (March 1).

NOTES
- The teams combined for just eight shots on goal in the opening 20 minutes, with the Friars holding a 5-3 advantage.
- Merrimack struck for the lone goal of the period on a power-play marker from Seamus Powell at the 17:57 mark.
- The Providence penalty kill went to work in the second period, successfully killing off all three Merrimack attempts.
- As a power play expired, Chase Yoder one-timed a pass from Connor Kelley under the crossbar for his fifth goal of the season to tie the game at 12:31 of the second period. Nick Poisson earned an assist on the play.
- Tomas Machu fired a shot from the point that beat Lundgren and gave the Friars a 2-1 with just 0.9 seconds remaining in the period. Tanner Adams and Logan Will were credited with the assists.
- The Friars continued to stifle Merrimack defensively in the third period, limiting them to just three shots in the final 20 minutes and 13 overall in the game.
- Both of Machu's goal this season have been game-winning goals.
- Providence earns its second six-point weekend in league play this season (UNH, Nov. 1-2).
- The Friars post their eighth 20-plus win season under Nate Leaman and first since 2021-22.
- Borgiel surrendered just one goal on 13 shots against his former team and improves to 6-2-1 this season.
- Providence improves to 10-3 in one-goal games this season.
