Women’s Hockey Falls To No. 6/6 Quinnipiac, 3-1

Hannah Clarke scored the lone goal for the Friars.

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Providence College women's hockey team were defeated by No. 6/6 Quinnipiac, 3-1, on Friday, Oct. 2, at M&T Bank Arena in Hamden, Conn. The Friars fall to 2-1-0, while Quinnipiac improves to 3-0-0. Junior Hannah Clarke (Richmond Hill, Ontario) scored the lone goal for the Friars.

1st Period
-Quinnipiac opened the scoring on the power play at 2:22 of the period from Avery Bairos. Rosalie Breton and Aynsley D'Ottavio assisted on the play.
 
-The Friars recorded nine blocks in the first 20 minutes.
 
2nd Period
-The Bobcats doubled their lead at 8:59 of the period on a goal from Keara Parker. Taylor Brueske and Peyton Cormier were awarded the assists.
 
-Quinnipiac would extend their lead 19 seconds later at 9:18 to make it 3-0 from Cormier. Parker and Makayla Watson were credited with assists.
 
-The Friars scored their first goal of the game to cut the deficit to 3-1 from junior Hannah Clarke (Richmond Hill, Ontario) at 12:09 of the period. Seniors Audrey Knapp (Stevens Point, Wis.) and Kiara Kraft (Churchville, N.Y.) assisted on the play. The goal marked Clarke's first goal of the season and second of her career. Knapp and Kraft each recorded their fourth assist of the season.
 
3rd Period
-The teams skated scoreless through the last 20 minutes. The Friars had one power play opportunity they were unable to convert on.
 
NOTES
 
-Sophomore goaltender Mallory Hartl (Askov, Minn.) made a career high 38 saves.
