PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College men's basketball Head Coach Bryan Hodgson announced today (April 15) that 6-3 junior guard Ryan Sabol (Washington, D.C.) has signed an athletic aid agreement to attend Providence in 2026-27.
"Ryan is a team-first player and we are excited that he will be part of our program next season," Hodgson said. "His development has come through hard work and growth during his college career. He is a prolific scorer from the perimeter. He made 122 threes and shot 40 percent from beyond the arc last season. Ryan ranked seventh in the nation in made three pointers."
Sabol averaged 18.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists at Buffalo in 2025-26. He was second on his team in scoring (18.8 points) and assists (107). Sabol was just the second Buffalo player to register 600 or more points and add 100 or more assists in a season. He shot 39.9 percent (122-306) from three and 85.9 percent (79-92) from the free-throw line. He registered 73 threes in conference play to lead the Mid-American Conference. Sabol had 17 games with 20 or more points, including two games with 30 or more points. He also posted 15 games with five or more made three, including a career-high seven versus Southern Mississippi on Nov. 3, 2025. For his efforts, he earned Third Team All-MAC honors.
In 2024-25, Sabol averaged a team best 14.4 points per game. He shot 79-226 (35.0 percent) from three. Sabol also shot 87.2 percent from the free-throw line. He recorded 20 or more points six times, including a season-best 28 points versus Frednonia on Nov. 8, 2024.
As a freshman, Sabol played in 31 games and made 27 starts. He averaged 8.1 points, 2.0 assists and 1.5 rebounds. Sabol made a team-high 62 threes. He was third on the squad in assists with 62.
Prior to going to Buffalo, Sabol attended Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C. He averaged 11.3 points, 3.0 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game during the 2022-23 season at Gonzaga.
