STORRS, Conn. – The Providence College men's and women's track and field teams travelled to Storrs, Conn., for Day 2 of the BIG EAST Outdoor Track Championship on May 15. The competition is taking place at the Sherman Sports Complex at the University of Connecticut. The Friars had a strong night as they captured three BIG EAST titles. Sophomore
Ryan LoCicero (Bloomfield, N.J.) won the 3,000-meter steeplechase final in a personal best time of 9:00.82. Sophomore
Anna Gardiner (Downpatrick, Ireland) was the second Friar to capture a title on Saturday when she won the 5,000 meters in a time of 16:50.43. Sophomore
Cormac Dixon (Dublin, Ireland) won the 5,000 meters in a personal best time of 13:48.17.

The Friars had a strong presence in the women's 5,000-meter final. In addition to Gardiner, PC had two other Friars finish in the top six and score as senior
Jane Buckley (Cork, Ireland) placed fourth (17:00.00) and freshman
Kate Currie (Christchurch, New Zealand) was sixth (17:11.38). Freshman
Lucia West (Raleigh, N.C.) also ran the 5,000 as she was the fourth Friar to place in the top-10 (ninth - 17:31.17).
Sophomore
Emily Bush (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) earned a fourth-place finish and scored in the 3,000-meter steeplechase final in a time of 10:27.53.
In the 800 meters, junior
Maeve O'Neill (Cork, Ireland) ran a time of 2:10.61 and won her heat to advance to Saturday's finals.
In the 400-meter trials, sophomore
Chloe Higgins (Morristown, N.J.) ran a season best 56.14 and placed ninth overall while sophomore
Keira Kelly (Scotch Plains, N.J.) and junior
Maggie Kemper (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.) ran personal best times in 56.27 and 56.32, respectively.
In addition to Dixon's title in the 5,000-meter final, sophomore
Daniel Prescott (Christchurch, New Zealand) placed eighth and scored (14:01.24).
In the 1,500-meter trials, freshman
Oliver Neate (Sydney, Australia), sophomore
Elliott Pugh (Tauranga, New Zealand) and junior
Tyler Bartlett (Fairfield, Conn.) all qualified for Saturday's final. Neate (3:51.23) and Pugh (3:51.41) both finished in the top four of their heats to qualify while Bartlett qualified with a time of 3:49.53.
Sophomore Tom Breen (Providence, R.I.) won his heat in the 800 meters in 1:54.27 to qualify for the finals.
Junior
Jon Mignacca (Seekonk, Mass.) was fifth in the high jump (1.91m).
