LEXINGTON, Ky. – Providence College sophomore
Elliott Pugh (Tauranga, New Zealand) ran the men's 1,500-meter quarterfinals today (May 29) at the NCAA First Round competition at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Ky. Pugh finished sixth in his heat and sixth overall in a personal best time of 3:39.19. Pugh advances to the 1,500-meter semifinals, which will be run on Wednesday, June 10 at 8:21 PM EST in Eugene, Ore. A total of 12 of the 24 athletes advanced from Friday's quarterfinal race to the semifinals.

The Friars will return to the track on Saturday for the final day of action when junior Maeve O'Neill (Cork, Ireland) will run in the 800 meters quarterfinals at 7:05 p.m. Following the 800 meters, sophomores Anna Gardiner (Downpatrick, Ireland) and Gabby Schmidt (Brisbane, Australia) and freshman Kate Currie (Christchurch, New Zealand) will run the 5,000-meter semifinals at 8:10 p.m.
The 2026 NCAA Track and Field Championships will take place on June 10-13 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
