Pugh was one of 24 athletes who qualified for the 1,500-meter semifinals, which will be run on Wednesday, June 10 at 8:21 p.m. EST. Twelve of the 24 athletes will advance from the semifinals to compete in the 1,500-meter final on Friday, June 12 at 8:12 p.m. EST. Pugh is the first Providence men's track runner to reach the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 1,500 meters since AJ Ernst in 2022.

This will be Pugh's first year competing at Hayward Field in Eugene. To qualify for this year's championship, Pugh entered the NCAA East First Round as the 42nd seed in the 1,500 meters in Lexington, Ky. In the opening round, the sophomore finished 15th overall in 3:44.01 to qualify for the quarterfinals. He then placed sixth in his heat and sixth overall in a personal-best time of 3:39.19 to advance to the semifinals. Pugh became the fifth runner in program history to break 3:40.00 in the 1,500 meters.

O'Neill, a three-time All-American, will run in the 800-meter semifinals for the Friars on Thursday, June 11 at 9:58 p.m. EST. Twelve of the 24 athletes will advance to compete in the 800-meter final on Saturday, June 13 at 9:14 p.m. EST.

The championships will mark the second consecutive year O'Neill will compete in Eugene. To get there, the junior qualified for the 800-meter quarterfinals at the NCAA East First Round in Lexington, Ky., by winning her heat in 2:02.66. In the quarterfinals, O'Neill finished third in her heat and sixth overall, where she recorded a program-record time of 2:00.72, the third time this season she has broken her own school record.

At the 2026 BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Championships, O'Neill captured the 800-meter title and 4x800-meter relay title. In the 800 meters, the junior broke her own school record of 2:02.22 with a time of 2:02.05. It also was a BIG EAST and facility record. In the 4x800 meters, the Friars won the race in a time of 8:30.87, setting program, BIG EAST and facility records. For her efforts, O'Neill was named BIG EAST Most Outstanding Female Track Performer.

At last year's NCAA Outdoor Championships, O'Neill earned Second Team All-America honors with a 13th place finish.
