The Friars improved to 2-0 at home this season.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's soccer team defeated Long Island University, 3-2, on Friday (Aug. 28) on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium. Providence received goals from Fernando Garcia Gil (Granada, Spain), Sam Montalto (Stonington, Conn.), and Angelo Ventrella (Toronto, Canada) in the victory over the Sharks.

• The Friars jumped out to an early lead in the 12th minute as Fernando Garcia Gil finished a feed from Steban Lopera to give Providence a 1-0 advantage.
• Providence extended its lead to 2-0 in the 32nd minute as Sam Montalto scored his second goal of the season.
• The Friars held a 10-1 advantage in shots in the opening half and entered halftime with a 2-0 lead.
