Men’s Soccer To Face Intra-State Rival Bryant On Saturday

The Friars and Bulldogs will play in Smithfield, R.I. at 6:00 p.m. on Sept. 12.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. –  The Providence College men's soccer team (4-1-1) will travel on Saturday, Sept. 12 to Bryant University (3-0-2) in Smithfield, R.I. at 6 p.m. The game will be available for streaming on ESPN+.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS…
The Friars enter Saturday's match after a 3-0 victory over University of Rhode Island on Monday, Sept. 7. Alvaro Maneiro (Madrid, Spain) opened the scoring in the 11th minute, while Brian Garrepy (Warwick, R.I.) added two goals in the second half to secure the victory for the Friars.
The Friars have scored 16 goals in their first six games this season. The team has outshot opponents 96-78, and has averaged 16 shots per game. They also hold a 33-28 advantage in shots on goal and hold a 21-15 advantage in corner kicks. 


Angelo Ventrella leads the Friars with 10 points through the first six games. He has two goals and six assists. Junior Alvaro Maneiro (Madrid, Spain) is close behind with nine points, on four goals and one assist. Redshirt-junior Brian Garrepy (Warwick, R.I.) has a total of eight points on four goals. 
Defensively, the Friars have conceded eight goals. Redshirt-sophomore goalkeeper Ryan Carney (Dunstable, Mass.) has started every match this season, collecting 24 saves and a .750 save percentage. He averages 4.0 saves per game. Freshman Ian Morel (Pawtucket, R.I.), junior Brandon Marshall (Wake Forest, N.C.) and junior Vasco Teixeira (Arrentela, Portugal), Steban Lopera (Revere, Mass.) have been anchoring the defense.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST BRYANT…
The Friars will travel to Smithfield, R.I. to face Bryant (3-0-2) on Saturday, Sept. 12. Providence is 17-4-0 all-time against the Bulldogs. Bryant earned a 2-1 victory over the Friars during the 2025 season. 

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS…
The Bulldogs entered the season ranked No. 10 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll to open the season. Last season, Bryant was ranked as high as No. 2 nationally. Bryant currently has a 17-match unbeaten streak in regular season non-conference games. Ten different players have scored for Bryant through its first five games of the season. The Bulldogs tied Colgate University, 1-1, in their most recent game on Sept. 6. 
 
UP NEXT…
The Friars will travel to Omaha, Neb. to face the No. 12 Creighton Bluejays (5-0-1) in their BIG EAST opener on Sept. 18. The match will kick off at 7:30 p.m. (ET) at Morrison Stadium and will be available for streaming on ESPN+. The Friars are 8-6-3 all-time against the Bluejays. Providence and Creighton last met Sept. 28, 2024, on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium. The match finished in a 2-2 tie.
