As a Junior: Placed seventh in the 200 IM (2:01.43), third in the 100 backstroke (55.05), and fourth in the 200 backstroke (1:58.58) at the Boston College New England Catholic Invitational…Placed third in the 100 backstroke (54.90), second in the 200 backstroke (1:58.75), and second in the 200 IM (2:04.50)…Placed second in the 100 SCM backstroke (1:00.33), the 200 SCM backstroke (2:11.11), and the 200 SCM IM (2:15.43) against Fairfield…Placed first in the 200 SCM IM (2:15.03) against Iona…At the Harold Anderson Invitational, Batista placed third in the 200 IM (1:56.60), fourth in the 100 backstroke (53.39), and second in the 200 backstroke (1:52.54)…Placed first in the 200 backstroke (2:00.49) against Holy Cross…Batista qualified for the BIG EAST Championships in Geneva, Ohio, where he competed in the 200 IM, the 100 backstroke, and placed 14th in the 200 backstroke (1:52.19). He was also a member of the 400 yard medley relay that placed fourth.
As a Sophomore: At the New England Catholic Invitational, Batista placed third in the 200 yard IM (2:00.56) and second in both the 100 and 200 yard backstrokes, touching at 54.89 and 1:57.43 respectively…Placed first in the 200 scm backstroke (2:10.80) and second in the 200 scm IM (2:15.49) against Bryant on October 21…At the Harold Anderson Invitational in November, Batista placed fourth in the 200 yard IM (1:56.82), fourth in the 100 yard backstroke (53.05), and second in the 200 yard backstroke (1:52.42). He was also a member of the first place 400 yard medley relay and the third place 200 yard medley relay...Placed second in the 200 scm backstroke (2:18.62) against Villanova in January…Batista qualified for the BIG EAST Championships in the 200 IM as well as the 100 and 200 backstrokes. He placed 23rd in the 200 IM (1:56.90), 14th in the 200 yard backstroke (52.50), and 15th in the 200 yard backstroke (1:52.78). He was a member of the 200 and 400 medley relays, both of which placed fifth.
