PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College Friars defeated Quinnipiac College, 4-1, in men's soccer action at Providence, R.I. on Tuesday, October 26. PC junior Kevin Jones (Westford, Mass.) led the Friar offense with one goal and two assists.
Sophomore Keith Dorsey (Cranston, R.I.) put the Friars on the scoreboard when he scored on a breakaway after taking a pass from Jones at the 32:19 mark. The Braves evened the game at 1-1 as freshman Paul Dworak (Cromwell, Conn.) broke through two PC defenders and blasted a shot by Friar freshman goalkeeper Michael Cardenas (Framingham, Mass.) at 41:02.
Sophomore Kempes Corbally (Dublin, Ireland) got the Friar offense started in the second half with a goal off a direct kick from the top of the box at 51:50 for what proved to be the gamewinner. Jones and sophomore Tom Blesso (Billerica, Mass.) netted goals for PC at 54:45 and 80:22 to close out the scoring in the game.
With the win, Providence improved to 6-8-1 overall, while Quinnipiac fell to 5-12 overall.
Providence College returns to action on Sunday, October 31 against Seton Hall at PC's Glay Field at 1:00 p.m.
