PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College defeated Harvard University, 3-0, in college volleyball action on Tuesday, October 26 at Providence, R.I.
The Friars earned the win over the Crimson by sweeping the three matches by the scores of 15-12, 15-8 and 15-3. Sophomore Annie Cella (Burr Ridge, Ill.) recorded a game-high 22 kills to lead the Friars. Sophomore Sarah Katinger (Stratford, Conn.) and junior Heidi Filippi (Wooster, Ohio) added 17 and 13 assists, respectively, for the Friars. Senior Colleen Lee (Tonawanda, N.Y.) posted a game-high 48 assists for PC.
Harvard was led by junior Angela Lutich (Tucson, Ariz.) who recorded 12 kills for the Crimson.
The victory gave the Friars their sixth consecutive win. It also marked the team's 10th win in its last 12 games. For the season, the Friars have posted a 12-9 record. With the loss, Harvard fell to 12-9 overall.
Providence returns to action on Saturday, October 30 against BIG EAST foe Syracuse at PC's Alumni Hall at 1:00 p.m.
